Should I go to college if I don’t know what I want to major in or do with my life? Is it something I can figure out while I’m there? How can I pay for college? What is Minnesota doing to make it more affordable? Life After Now will dive into all of these questions over the course of the season, but in this episode we have a pair of experts from GearUp MN giving us some quick answers to pressing questions from high schoolers all around the state of Minnesota. ABOUT THE GUEST

DeShawn Woods is originally from South Minneapolis. He graduated from Central High School in 2009. In 2013, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in the area of Public Administrations. He is in the process of completing his Master’s degree in Education at Concordia University-Saint Paul.

DeShawn currently works for the Get Ready program through the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. In this role, DeShawn helps connect students with the tools and experiences necessary for them to explore their options after high school.

One highlight from Mai Chue's work is seeing the learning and growth in the students she works with as they embrace their education and take ownership by getting involved, asking questions, and reaching out for help. She joined the Get Ready/GEAR UP program in March 2021 and is excited to be able to continue her work on the high school side with an innovative and supportive team.
