Nimo Omar is a black Muslimah labor organizer and co-founder of The Awood Center. During her time at the Awood Center, her work has been covered by print and broadcast media outlets worldwide, including: New York Times, Guardian, Associate Press, Bloomberg, Times Money and MPR. Nimo’s labor work was also the topic of a November 2019 Wired magazine cover story. The coverage made her a superhero, not just to black girls or Muslim girls but to anyone who loves and craves justice.
